Resources are available for new and beginning farmers

Resources are available for new and beginning farmers through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A USDA website includes advice and guidance on everything a new farm business owner needs to know, from writing a business plan, to developing new markets, supporting more effective farming. There is even a  Discovery Tool to build a personalized set of recommendations of USDA programs and services that may meet their needs. To learn more about this website, visit www.usda.gov/newfarmers.

Signups are now open for the USDA Milk Loss Program which offers assistance for eligible dairy operations for milk that was dumped or removed, without compensation, from the commercial milk market due to qualifying weather events and the consequences from those events during calendar years 2020, 2021 and 2022. Signups run through Oct. 16, 2023. For more information on MLP, please contact your FSA County office.
