Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Detected

A highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected in an Ohio dairy cattle herd. According to the Ohio Department of Agriculture a dairy operation in Wood County received cows on March 8th from a Texas dairy which later confirmed detection of HPAI. Animal health officials in Ohio were notified when the livestock began showing signs of illness. ODA officials are awaiting confirmation from the USDA National Veterinary Services Laboratory.
