Ohio State CFAES to lead federal food waste initiative

Date

OSU is taking the lead on a program to reduce food loss and waste in homes across the country. One third of all food is wasted and half of that waste is happening in homes. Almost 80 billion pounds of food ends up in solid waste landfills each year. Thanks to $2.5 million in funding from the USDA a team of professors will develop educational messages and campaign materials to reduce household food waste across the U.S. from farm to table.
